Diene™
Polybutadiene For Plastics
Our Diene™ polybutadiene rubber has established a
reputation as the synthetic rubber of choice to improve impact resistance
of styrenic plastics.
HIPS (high impact polystyrene) and ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene
terpolymer) are two widely used styrenic plastics that are modified with
rubber.
Diene™ polybutadiene in bale form is designed for HIPS and ABS manufactured
by the mass or bulk polymerization processes in which the rubber is dissolved
in styrene. This graft polymerization process forms a tougher, more impact
resistance plastic.
Important advantages provided by Diene™ include:
- A wide range of structures and solution viscosities
- Extremely low color
- Extremely low gel
The requirements for a colorless low gel rubber modifier have gradually become more stringent. Firestone Polymers, through its close association with the HIPS industry, has been able to meet and exceed these demands and is committed to doing so in the future.
